Project Name: Bicester Office Park

Location: Bicester, Oxfordshire

Tasks: Extended Phase 1 Habitat Survey, Hedgerow Assessment, Desk Study, Bat Activity Surveys, Great Crested Newt Survey, Biodiversity Impact Assessment, EIA Ecology Chapter.

Project Overview: Prime Environment completed an initial extended phase 1 habitat assessment and a range of ecology surveys to support an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for a new office park on arable land south of Bicester.

Detailed Project Overview

Prime Environment were engaged by the EIA coordinator for the project to assess the potential ecological impacts arising from a proposed office park development.

Although we were able to scope out most potential issues with protected species (the levels of bat activity were not high and no great crested newts were found), the project will result in the loss of arable and ditch habitats and impacts to nesting birds.

However, we were able to demonstrate that impacts could be mitigate or compensated for, and a net gain in biodiversity can be achieved through habitat creation on undeveloped areas of the site.
